School Council

Burgoyne School Council – The Student Voice.

Burgoyne School council is made up of a girl and a boy representative from each form in each year. These representatives listen, gather and represent the opinions, requests and feelings of their forms.

Last year the School Council:

  • Contributed a pupil statement to the Anti Bullying Policy.
  • Each year selected a charity for each year to fund raise for. Year 5 chose the RSPB, a local wildlife charity. Year 6 chose Addenbrookes Hospital’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit as one of the children had received intensive treatment there, following a car crash in which she sadly lost two brothers. Year 7 requested the UNICEF I Promise Appeal, protecting exploited children in the developing world. Year 8 chose to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
  • They approached the governors to request that the Summer uniform be adapted to relieve children of their shirt and tie, which was to be replaced by a polo shirt bearing the new school emblem. This was granted and we look forward to reaping the more comfortable benefits of this in the Summer term.

There is a great camaraderie across and between years in the school council and a tremendous sense of team work and achievement.
